Ragtime a maiden no more
Having his fifth career starts, the three-year-old gelding Ragtime Cowboy Joe headed to Kembla Grange to contest the second race of the day, the Bakers Delight Corrimal Maiden Handicap over 1400m.
With Jeff Penza in the saddle, the Mrs M A Smith, M A O'Gorman, Mrs C C O'Gorman, K A Arnold & D J Fairfull-owned galloper was too good for his rivals, scoring by a long neck from the Peter Snowden-trained Teenager, a half-brother to the Group One South Australian Derby winner Kidnapped, with Royal Froloic back in third.
Having his second preparation, it appears that the penny may have dropped for the son of Oh Oklahoma who proved himself as a quality three-year-old, running second in the Group One Rosehill Guineas over 2000m behind De Beers.
